National News: Think a little ... Hidden in the stomach of a simple-looking person, a treasure of one crore rupees! Even though it may be a script of a film, it is a real incident in Moradabad. The police have busted a gold smuggling operation in which smugglers were bringing gold not in their bags but in their stomachs as capsules - that too from Dubai to India!
This sensational revelation started on 23 May, when a young man named Zulfakar Ali of Rampur called the police and told them he and his associates were abducted by some armed miscreants in the forest. Luckily, Zulfar escaped and reached the police.
When the layers of a common robbery or a case of a ransom seemed to be opened, an international gold smuggling gang was exposed.
The police, showing activeness, laid siege to the area and caught two miscreants - Taufik and Raza—in the encounter. Cars, weapons, and four hostage youths were recovered from them. But the real shocking turn came when the police found the activities of these four "hostages" suspicious and sent them to the hospital for medical examination.
What showed in X-rays shocked both doctors and police-capsules like shiny metal in the stomach!
The operation began under the supervision of doctors, and 27 gold capsules were extracted from all four. Their total weight turned out to be 1.058 kg and the price of about one crore rupees!
The names of the arrested smugglers are Muttlib, Azaruddin, Shane Alam, and Julfarkar Ali, all residents of the Tanda area of Rampur.
The inquiry revealed that all these are members of a high-profile smuggling racket. His financier would get him from Dubai after getting a travel visa. From there, gold capsules were prepared and swallowed, and then these people would return to India.
After coming to India, these smugglers used to eat only light food for two-three days and take out the capsules through feces in a natural way. Later, the gold washed and handed over to the financier with a stake.
The smugglers confessed that this gang includes even travel agents, doctors, and logistics experts, who execute everything in a planned manner. Meaning, this smuggling is not just a game of money - it is a confluence of science and an international network.
How deep the roots of this smuggling network are is yet to be estimated. Moradabad Police has handed over the case to the Customs Department and other intelligence agencies. There may be more big revelations in the coming days.
While the government is tightening the smuggling of gold, the criminals have now made the body 'smuggling box.' Capsules in the stomach and innocence on the face ... This gang has given a new direction to smuggling methods - and a new challenge to the police.
